Five Blue Raiders named to All-Star Teams

Murfreesboro, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's Zach Barrett was named the Most Valuable Player of the South All-Stars at the 2007 Valley Baseball League's All-Star game to lead the 15 Blue Raider players on summer baseball teams.

Barrett, who's playing for the Staunton (VA) Braves, earned the top honor after capturing the only extra-base hit for the South in the game, going 1-for-2 on the day. He's currently batting .299, second highest on the team, with 41 hits, 22 RBI and 9-for-9 in stolen bases. Barrett will be a senior in the 2008 season.

Left-handed pitcher Kenneth Roberts and infielder Taylor Dennis also made All-Star appearances in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League last weekend. They both play for the Carolina (SC) Sox.

Roberts is leading the Sox in ERA after making 13 appearances on the mound. He boasts a 1.72 ERA, a perfect 7-0 record and one save in 31.1 innings of work. He leads the team in strikeouts with 38 and has held his opponents to a .220 batting average.

Dennis is batting .329 after playing in 32 games with 26 hits and 15 runs. He boasts a .418 slugging and on base percentage with four stolen bases.

Drew Robertson is catching for the KIT League-leading Fulton (KY) Railroaders, making the 2007 KIT League All-Star Team. He's made 23 appearances has tallied 14 hits and 15 walks on 86 plate appearances.

Ben Darlington, Zach Hudson, Tyler Hyde and Blake McDade are all playing together for the Union City (TN) Greyhounds.

McDade was named to the KIT League All-Star Team after appearing in 27 games and leading the Greyhounds with a .337 batting average. He boasts a slugging percentage of .517 with 30 hits, 13 runs and 18 RBI.

Hudson boasts a .297 batting average in 24 games played with 22 hits and 19 runs, including a pair of homers.

Darlington has appeared in 27 games picking up 15 hits with a .309 on base percentage and tallying 13 runs.

Hyde has started six games, throwing two complete games, posting a 2.39 ERA on 37.2 innings of work. He currently boasts a 3-1 record.

Rawley Bishop, Myles Ervin and Chad Coley are all playing for the Junction City (MO) Generals in the Central Plains Baseball League.

Bishop currently leads the team with a .369 batting average, playing and starting in all 23 games thus far. He has nine doubles, three home runs and 22 RBI.

Ervin is sitting on a .230 average with 14 hits and seven RBI after appearing in 19 games, starting 17.

Coley has made nine appearances on the mound for the Generals, posting a 1-1 overall record with two combined shutouts in 14.0 innings of work.

Right-handed pitcher Brett Smalley has made seven appearances for the Bethseda (MD) Big Train in the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League, sitting with a 1-2 record on 18.2 innings pitched and an opponent's batting average of .197.

Brad Robinson is playing in the Coastal Plains League with the Edenton (NC) Steamers. While Dillon Heath and Justin Jones both are currently playing in the Nashville Woodbat League with Heath playing for the Chargers.
