Lady Raiders Defeat Saint Louis, 7-0

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee won every match, including all six singles matches in straight sets, defeating Saint Louis, 7-0, Sunday morning in women's tennis action at the Racquet Club.

The Lady Raiders (4-2) started strong, winning all three doubles matches to gain the first point of the match.

Lady Raiders Jennifer Klaschka and Laura McNamara made quick work of Ana Renda and Melissa Cutler, 8-1, at No. 2 before the 31st-ranked duo of Manon Kruse and Carien Venter defeated Katarina Lozanova and Amanda Hellberg, 8-3, at No. 1 to gain the point. Middle Tennessee's Jacqui Williams and Ana Marie Cibils battled through a series of long games before winning, 8-4, at No. 3 over Lindsay Winninger and Rebecca Steer.

In singles the Lady Raiders won singles matches in the first four positions very quickly to take control of the match.

McNamara won 6-1, 6-0, at No. 4 over Cutler before the 54th-ranked Kruse defeated Lozanova, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1. Klaschka then finished off Hellberg, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2, and Venter finished shortly after with a 6-2, 6-3, victory over Renda, at No. 3.

Emily Vest defeated Winninger, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5 and Williams won 6-4, 6-3, over Steer at No. 6.

The Lady Raiders hit the road next weekend for a pair of matches, taking on Arkansas-Little Rock Friday and Memphis Sunday. Middle Tennessee returns home March 3 with a match against Murray State.
