Lady Raiders Defeat Memphis, 7-0

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee won five of six singles matches in straight set and swept all three doubles matches, defeating Memphis, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the Racquet Club of Memphis.

In doubles, the Lady Raiders (6-2) were led by the 31st-ranked duo of Manon Kruse and Carien Venter defeating Marlene Dirnstorfer and Viktoria Gruber, 8-6, at No. 1. Jennifer Klaschka and Laura McNamara won 8-4 at No. 2 over Andrea Feichtinger and Yesica Ares, while Ana Maria Cibils and Jacqui Williams defeated Kristin Noble and Alex Tjoie, 8-5, at No. 3.

In singles, 54th-ranked Kruse won 6-1, 6-0, over Dirnstorfer at No. 1, with Klaschka taking a 6-2, 6-3, decision over Gruber at No. 2. Venter was the only Lady Raider who went to three sets, winning 6-2, 6-7 (4), 10-3, over Feichtinger at No. 3.

McNamara defeated Ares, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 4, while Cibils won 6-2, 6-2, over Noble at No. 5 and Williams took a 7-5, 6-1, decision over Christina Wieser at No. 6.

Middle Tennessee next plays against Murray State on March 3 at 2 p.m. at the Racquet Club.
