Smith finishes fourth at State Amateur
Blue Raider contingent enjoys strong showing
August 17, 2007 · MT Media RelationsNASHVILLE, Tenn. - Craig Smith shot an even-par 72 and Chas Narramore fired a 1-over 73 in the final round of the Tennessee State Amateur Championship at the Belle Meade Country Club Friday, landing the two Middle Tennessee golfers among the top 10 in the field.
In fact, Middle Tennessee enjoyed a strong showing at the State Am with four golfers among the top 14, including former standout and Murfreesboro native Spencer Provow, while two other Blue Raiders tied for 53rd.
Smith and Narramore entered Friday's final round in contention but Memphis native Bobby Hudson's 1-under-71 gave him a 9-under 279 for the four-day event and enabled the University of Texas standout to take the title.
Smith finished with a 6-under 282 and finished fourth, while Narramore's 4-under 284 was good for sixth. Senior Nick Bailes turned in a 4-under 68 Friday and vaulted to 14th with a 4-over 292 for the tournament. Provow also finished 4-over and tied for 14th.
Scott Vick and Jason Millard tied for 53rd.
