Blue Team Wins Scrimmage in Four

The public had a chance to check out the 2007 Blue Raider volleyball team

Murfreesboro, Tenn. - The Blue Team won the Blue and White Scrimmage Saturday evening in four games (30-13, 30-23, 17-30, 30-24). The scrimmage gave the public a chance to see the 2007 squad in action before the season kicks off next weekend.

Freshman Izabela Kozon recorded a double-double with a team-high 17 kills and 12 digs. Senior Quanshell Scott added nine kills, and netted seven block solos and one block solo, while sophomore Leslie Clark had 47 assists and seven block assists. Sophomore Ashley Mead also added 16 kills. Senior Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year Alicia Lemau'u had a team-high 21 digs, adding a pair of service aces.

On the White Team, junior Ashley Asberry had a team-high 14 kills, while junior Ashley Adams tallied 12. Freshman Stacy Oladinni recorded two block solos and five block assists to lead the team on defense. Freshman setter Alyssa King had 34 assists and 10 digs.

Middle Tennessee, picked to win the Eastern Division in the Sun Belt Conference and voted 44th nationally, begins its season in Omaha, Neb., August 24-25 at the Creighton Bluejay Invitational. The team will face Montana State, Stephen F. Austin and host Creighton before heading to Ames, Iowa, to take on the Iowa State Cyclones on Sunday, August 26.

The Blue Raiders' first home match will be against Northeastern in the Blue Raider Bash September 7-8 in Alumni Memorial Gym. The match time is set for 1:00 p.m. and a live broadcast can be heard on GoBlueRaiders.com.
