Blue Raiders drop double-OT decision at Belmont
MT goes to 2 OT for second-straight match
September 2, 2007 · MT Media RelationsThe Blue Raiders (0-1-1) played to a 1-1 stalemate after two overtimes at East Tennessee in the opener Friday. The offense was once again hard to come by Sunday afternoon although missed opportunities plagued Middle Tennessee, which had 14 shots to Belmont's six.
"Our defense played well once again but we couldn't take advantage of the opportunities we created and as a result we failed to come away with the win," Middle Tennessee coach Aston Rhoden said. "We are playing well overall and creating opportunities but we aren't capitalizing on those chances and that's the name of the game. The defense certainly has performed well enough for us to win both of the first two games.
"We will need to have a good week of practice and regroup as we prepare for our home opener."
The Blue Raiders will open their home slate against Tulsa Friday at 7 p.m. in the Middle Tennessee Classic.
