MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Four Blue Raider soccer players earned a spot on the 12-person Middle Tennessee Classic All-Tournament team after Middle Tennessee won its two games to capture the tournament championship for the fourth time.

Sophomore Jen Threlkeld was named the Classic's Offensive Most Valuable Player and was joined on the team by seniors Holly Grogan and Kala Morgan as well as freshman defender Fran Howells.

"I thought we had several players turn in strong individual performances and that allowed us to enjoy success as a team," Middle Tennessee coach Aston Rhoden said. "It was good to see so many different players contribute to a good weekend of soccer."

Middle Tennessee beat Tulsa, 3-1, Friday and capped its tournament with a thrilling 5-4 win against Mississippi State Sunday - extending the win streak at Blue Raider Field to 23.

Threlkeld was named the Classic's Offensive MVP after scoring five goals in the two matches, including four in the championship win against Mississippi State on Sunday. Threlkeld scored three of her four goals in the second half to rally the Blue Raiders from a 2-1 halftime deficit. Her second goal of the match gave the Blue Raiders a 3-2 lead and her third extended the lead to 4-2 before Mississippi State rallied with two late goals to even the score. Threlkeld's fourth and final goal with 54 seconds remaining was the winner. The four goals in one match tie the Middle Tennessee single-game record and the eight points tied for second most in a game.

Grogan had two goals and two assists in the two matches, becoming Middle Tennessee's all-time leader in goals scored with 34 and tying the all-time points record with 89. She broke the goals scored record against Mississippi State Sunday and later tied the all-time points record when she assisted Threlkeld's third goal of the match.

Morgan had three assists against Mississippi State to tie for third on the single-game assists lists and she finished the weekend with one goal and three assists for five points.

Howells, a freshman who has provided an immediate impact for the Blue Raiders' defense, enjoyed two solid matches to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team.
