Women Add Three Wins on Sunday at St. Mary's Classic

Siljestrom, Chemin and Herrera all victorious on Sunday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Three members of the Middle Tennessee women's tennis team posted wins on Sunday at the St. Mary's Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee.

Senior Ann-Kristin Siljestrom, junior Marlene Chemin and freshman Andrea Herrera each won their respective singles matches on Sunday.

Siljestrom defeated Whitney Trotter of ETSU 6-3, 6-1 in the consolation match of flight six. While in the consolation match of flight four, Chemin defeated Tara Sheets of ETSU 6-1, 1-6, 6-4.

Then Herrera defeated ETSU's Brittany Stewart 6-2, 6-4 in the winner's bracket of flight nine.

In other matches for the Blue Raiders, junior Pooja Kommireddi fell to Natalia Baez of Louisville in the consolation match of the flight eight winner's bracket 6-1, 6-4.

Sophomore Stephanie Parkison fell to Tara Byrne of East Tennessee State 6-0, 6-2 in the flight two consolation match. In the flight three consolation match, junior Elivra Yusupova fell to ETSU's Olay Batsula 6-3, 6-1.

Senior Claudia Zsabo won her match over Elena Volobueva of ETSU 6-3, 6-0 in the flight five consolation match and freshman Shannon Hartman fell to Louisville's Andra Voinea 3-6, 7-6 (1) 7-5 in the flight seven consolation match.

Middle Tennessee will be back in action on Oct. 17-21 when it travels to Chapel Hill, N.C. to compete in the ITA Southeast Regional Championships.
