Richard Falls at ITA All-America Championships
Blue Raiders have one player remaining in tournament
September 30, 2007 · MT Media RelationsRichard fell 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 to Tiago Espiritio Santo of Wichita State, who was a 17 seed in the draw.
"Morgan lost a tough match. He had the guy, 4-2 in the set and was up 40-15 in the game but did not take advantage of his opportunity. Morgan came back great in the 2nd set to win," head coach David McNamara said. "I felt like he was in a good situation but he ran out of gas in the third set. Santo played well the entire match and was the better player. Hopefully Morgan can learn for these last few matches and get better."
To begin play on Sunday, Richard defeated Chris Parkes of New Mexico 6-3 in the first set but Parkes retired due to an injury in the second set.
Sophomore Marc Rocafort is the only remaining Blue Raider at the ITA All-America Championships. Rocafort seeded high enough that he did not have to compete in the pre-qualifying draw.
Rocafort will begin the qualifying draw of the 2007 ITA All-America Championships on Monday at 12 p.m. when he faces N.C. State's Derek Stephens.
Results from the Polo Ralph Lauren/ITA All-America Championship will be available on www.goblueraiders.com.
