Nowak and Wishing Advance to Semi-Finals
Blue Raiders perform well at Georgia Tech Invitational
October 6, 2007 · MT Media RelationsIn the doubles B draw, Nowak and Wishing defeated Kenny and George Gvelesiani of Georgia Tech 8-3. The pair will play William Lang and Jeremy Tweedt of Tennessee in the semi-finals on Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
In singles action, sophomore Alex McCann defeated tournament host Georgia Tech's Doug Kenny 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals of the A singles Saturday morning. Then in the semi-finals McCann fell to Alex Petropolous of Auburn, 6-3, 6-4.
Sophomore Joao Pailiello defeated Oscar Machuca of Southern Miss 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (6) in the quarterfinals of the A singles consolation. Pailiello then fell to Georgia's Christian Vitulli 6-2, 6-0 in the semi-finals. In the B singles consolation quarterfinals, freshman Derrick Davidson fell to Alexander Arendt of Southern Miss 6-3, 6-0.
