First Women's Hoops Practice Open to the Public

Squad will practice Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Murphy Center

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's women's basketball team will hold its first official team practice of the year on Friday, October 12 at Murphy Center, from 7-9 p.m., and all fans are encouraged to attend. The players will be available for autographs following the two-hour practice.

The Blue Raiders were ranked 22nd in the preseason by Lindy's 2007-08 College Basketball Magazine last month. Middle Tennessee ended the 2006-07 season ranked 17th by the Associated Press and 23rd in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.

Middle Tennessee returns three starters and seven letterwinners from last year's 30-4 club, including senior Amber Holt, who averaged 16.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. She also posted 2.7 steals per contest and scored in doubles figures in 30 of the 34 games.

Seniors Starr Orr and Latoya Barclay, junior Johnna Abney and sophomores Chelsia Lymon, Jackie Pickel and Brandi Brown all return to this year's squad. Newcomers include transfer Alysha Clark and freshmen Anne Marie Lanning, Emily Queen and Morgan Boyd. Redshirt freshman Angelique Burtts also returns to this year's club.

SEASON TICKETS FOR SALE: Fans may purchase season tickets for the Blue Raiders by calling the Middle Tennessee Ticket Office at 1-888-YES-MTSU or 615/898-2103. Season tickets for the women are $100 per seat for the team's 12 home games this season, including the December 28 matchup with LSU at Murphy Center.

Fans may also purchase the Blue Raider Combo Pack, which includes season tickets for both the men's and women's teams, for $210 per seat. The deadline for season ticket renewals is Monday, October 22.
