Blue Raiders Travel to Louisiana
Middle will play the three Louisiana conference schools as it wraps-up a six match road stand.
October 18, 2007 · MT Media RelationsMiddle Tennessee lost its first conference match of the season to the Lady Toppers, 3-0 on Monday night. The Blue Raiders are now 21-2 on the season and 8-1 in Sun Belt Conference play.
Although the Blue Raiders lost to rival Western Kentucky on Monday night the week was highlighted by freshman Izabela Kozon who was named Sun Belt Player of the Week for her performance against Florida Atlantic and Florida International.
The Warsaw, Poland native averaged 3.67 kills per game as she notched 22 kills on the weekend. Kozon ended the two matches with a 3.67 hitting percentage, 24.5 points and averaged 2.17 digs per game.
Kozon added assistance on the defensive end of the ball with 13 digs and four total blocks. Kozon set a career high on Saturday night as she recorded 16 kills helping lead the Blue Raiders to a 3-0 win over FIU. Against FIU, she had a hitting percentage of .467 and five digs.
The team is receiving votes in the CSTV/AVCA Top-25 poll and is currently 27th with 81 votes. Middle also has a number of players in the top of the NCAA Rankings including sophomore Leslie Clark who is third in assists per game with 14.09.
On Friday Oct. 19 the Blue Raiders will face Louisiana-Monroe at 5 p.m. Then on Saturday, Oct. 20 the Blue Raiders will face Louisiana-Lafayette at 7 p.m. Middle will have Sunday off before playing New Orleans at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22.
