Herrera and Hartman Win Matches on Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Blue Raiders performed well on Saturday at Vanderbilt's June Stewart Invitational.

Redshirt freshman Shannon Hartmann defeated UTM's Belisa De Brito 6-4, 6-1, in the Marshall Summar draw. On Sunday, Hartmann will play Martie Wahl of UTM.

In the same draw, freshman Andrea Herrera defeated Mary Beth Gunn of UTM 6-0, 6-0. Herrera will play Julianne McMeen on Sunday.

In the Craig Clark draw consolation round, sophomore Parkison fell to Indiana's Charlotte Martin 6-0, 6-0. Parkison will face Elizma Schoonees of UTM for seventh place on Sunday.

Sophomore Elvira Yusupova lost her match with Arizona State's Jessica Leitch in the consolation bracket 6-0, 6-0. Yusupova will play Carolina Escamilla of Kentucky for seventh place in the Edward Collins draw on Sunday.

In doubles action, Yusupova and Parkison fell to Leitch and Hein of Arizona State 8-0 to round out the tournament. The pair also played Broderick and Meier of Kentucky losing 8-0.

Also in doubles action, Herrera and Hartmann fell to Stephanie Heller and Martin of Indiana 8-2 in the Joanne Eskreis draw. Then the duo played Caroline Ferrell and Katie Kilborn of Vanderbilt losing the match 8-2.
