NASHVILLE - Middle Tennessee shot 9-over 293 in the first round of the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate, hosted by Vanderbilt University, and is in 11th place and 10 shots behind leader Mississippi after first round action.
The Blue Raiders are within striking distance and are looking to make a move in the final two rounds at the Vanderbilt Legends Club of Tennessee in their final tournament of the fall season.
Ole Miss shots a 1-under 283 and leads after one round, followed by Mississippi State (284) and South Alabama (286).
Blue Raider junior Rick Cochran shot even par and is tied for 13th. He is four shots off the lead of Augusta State's Jake Amos, who fired a 4-under 67. Kent Bulle was 1-over 72 and is tied for 21st.
Rounding out the first round scoring for Middle Tennessee was Jason Millard (T41, 3-over 74), Chas Narramore (T62, 5-over 76) and Craig Smith (T66, 6-over 77).
