Durham captures sixth career tournament title
Blue Raiders second overall at FIU's Pat Bradley ChampionshipOctober 30, 2007 · MT Media Relations
The six career titles are the most by a female golfer at Middle Tennessee and are tied for the second most in Blue Raider golf history - male or female. It was also Durham's 29th career top 10 finish as she helped lead the Blue Raiders to a second-place finish among the 11-team field.
"Taryn was really solid and turned in another consistent effort," Middle Tennessee coach Rachael Short said. "The weather conditions were not great and the teams had to battle through the wind and rain but I'm really proud of all of our players because they worked through it and we made up ground on three teams entering the final round. It was a good all-around effort for us as we near the end of the fall season."
The Blue Raiders shot 908 as a team and tied with tournament host Florida International for second, 12 shots behind tournament champion South Florida.
Middle Tennessee had three players turn in top 20 finishes and had four in the top 25. Freshman Cecilia Orevik finished 17th overall with a 14-over 230, followed by Mallory Bishop, who tired for 18th with a 231. Clara Leathers was 23rd with a 233 and Tasha Gough tied for 58th overall with a 250.
Durham led the tournament field in par 4 scoring at 4-under and her 13 birdies were second most. Durham and Orevik both were 1-under on the par 5s and Orevik also displayed steady, consistent play by knocking in 35 pars out of the 54 holes played.
