Blue Raiders own second-round lead at Wolfdancer

Durham, Hale tied for overall lead

BASTROP, Texas - Welcome to college women's golf Morgan Hale.

The Middle Tennessee freshman made a smashing collegiate debut after earning a spot in the lineup during qualifying last week. Hale, who hails from nearby Tullahoma, Tenn., shot 2-over 146 and is tied for the lead at the Challenge at Wolfdancer Tournament, hosted by Texas State.

Hale is tied with teammate Taryn Durham, who was even at 72 in the second round to match her teammate. Hale shot 1-under 71 in the opening round of her college debut. The 71 is tied for low round of the tournament through two rounds.

Middle Tennessee shot 603 through the first two rounds and owns a two-shot lead over Northwestern in the 13-team field entering Monday's final round. The Blue Raiders have three golfers among the field's top 10 as sophomore Clara Leathers is eighth with an eighht-over 152.

The Blue Raiders shot 305 in the first round but they stormed back with a 298 in the second round to move into the lead, followed by Northwestern and Iowa State. Cecilia Orevik is tied for 32nd after shooting 159 in the first two rounds and Mallory Bishop shot 167 in the first two rounds.
