MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Sophomore Leslie Clark and junior Ashley Adams have received ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors as announced on Thursday.

Clark received First Team recognition in District 4. The Olathe, Kan., native is an elementary education major with a 3.93 GPA.

This season Clark is adding depth to the Blue Raider offense as she is eighth the nation in assists per game with 13.80. Clark has a total of 1,270 assists this season.

"Obviously I think we have a number of players on our team who are outstanding students. Our overall GPA is a 3.2. Certainly Leslie and Ashley have contributed to that as much as anyone. I think it also goes to show what well-rounded student-athletes we have in our program," Peck said. "We have some outstanding students, some outstanding athletes and just the character of all our players is a great testament to the recruiting we have done the past couple of years."

Adams was named to the District 4 Second Team. The Columbus, Ohio native is majoring in political science (pre-law) with a 3.45 GPA.

Adams is leading Middle Tennessee offensively as she has 431 kills this season averaging 4.31 kills per game. This season Adams has a hitting percentage of .368. She also adds assistance on defense as she is third on the team in digs with 243.

"Leslie and Ashley maintaining a high grade point average with all of the traveling we do is just amazing. I am very proud of Leslie and Ashley both and all of our players who really focus on their school work," head coach Matt Peck said.

Adams and Clark will help lead Middle Tennessee on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. against Western Kentucky as it battles for the East Division Sun Belt Conference title.
