Sangau 19th, Chemaoi 49th at NCAA South Regional

Sangau has outside shot at NCAA Championships, will find out Sunday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Sophomore Zamzam Sangau placed 19th and freshman Festus Chemaoi finished 49th, leading Middle Tennessee at the NCAA Cross Country South Regional at the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Fla.

Sangau finished 19th out of 144 competitors in 21:26.55 on the 6K course in her first-ever NCAA Regional appearance. Senior Marjorie Gombert placed 51st in 22:40.25.

On the men's side, Chemaoi was 49th on the 10K course in 32:33.99, while sophomore William Songock finished 73rd in 33:29.94.

"Zamzam ran terrific and finished in the Top 20, and Marjorie also ran pretty well on the women's side," head coach Dean Hayes said. "Both of the men also did well and it was a great way to end the fall season."
