Peers Posts Career Day in Arizona

TEMPE, Ariz. - Freshman John Peers had a career day on Saturday in the semi-finals of the Thunderbird Invitational.

Peers defeated Juan Carlos Rebaza of Arizona State 6-4, 6-3. Rebaza is currently 40th in the country in the national rankings. Peers will play Gustave Diep of New Mexico State in the championship match at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

In doubles action, Peers teamed with Arkansas' Brandon Joost to defeat Christopher Nott and Tyler Tarnasky also of Arkansas 8-5.

Freshman Derrick Davison lost his match with Arizona State's Murilo Souza 6-1, 6-2. Davison will be back in action on Sunday when he faces Joost.

Freshman Kyle Wishing fell to McBride 6-3, 6-1 in an exhibition match of the consolation round. On Sunday, Wishing will play Arizona State's Patrick Brogan.

In consolation doubles, Davison and Wishing fell to Roman Stoisavljevic of New Mexico State and McBride. Wishing and Davison will face Diep and Jim Brouleau of New Mexico State on Sunday at 9 a.m.
