MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee punter/placekicker David DeFatta was named the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday. It marks the third straight week Middle Tennessee has had the special teams award and the second time in three weeks for DeFatta.
A sophomore from Franklin, Tennessee, DeFatta enjoyed one of the best punting days by a Blue Raider in school history this past Saturday against Louisiana-Lafayette. DeFatta boomed seven punts for a career-best 53.0-yard average, which went down as the third-best single-game average in school history.
DeFatta nailed two punts of more than 60 yards and pinned the Ragin' Cajuns inside their own 20-yard line three times. He also connected on his only field goal attempt.
