Lady Raiders Fall to No. 57 Marshall 4-3

The Lady Raiders opened the match strong winning the doubles point going into singles play. Middle Tennessee picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and Marshall took the No. 3 doubles. No. 11th ranked Manon Kruse and Carien Venter extended their winning ways in doubles by easily defeating Marshall's tandem of Jessica Johnson and Ashley Kroh 8-3.
Marshall took the match by picking up wins at the No. 2, 3, 5 and 6 singles play. The Lady Raiders won at No. 1 and No. 4 singles.
Kruse, ranked 55th in the ITA, struggled early with Marshall's Johnson at No. 1 singles winning the first set 7-6. She came back in the second set and easily sat down the Herd's No. 1 player 6-1 to take the win.
Junior Ana Maria Cibils took the Lady Raiders only other singles win, as she played in an unfamiliar spot at No. 4. Cibils, who usually plays No. 5 singles, was elevated to four and took the challenge by defeating Marshall's Lillie Nzudie 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.
The Lady Raiders will head back out onto the road on Friday when the team travels to Mobile Alabama to take on Sun Belt foe South Alabama. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
