MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's golf coach Rachael Short has announced the signing of two players to national letters-of-intent.
Karisa Akin, who hails from Elizabethtown, Ky., and Stephanie Gough, a native of Aylesbury, England, have signed to play collegiate golf at Middle Tennessee. Gough is the sister of current Blue Raider Tasha Gough.
"We are pleased to be able to have these two talented players sign with us," Short said. "Karisa is a strong amateur player and has great credentials, as does Steph, so we believe these two players will be able to make significant contributions to Middle Tennessee during their college careers."
Akin is a four-time All-State performer at Central Hardin High School and was named the Kentucky High School Athletic Association's Miss Golf in 2005. She was also the Kentucky Golf Association-PGA Player of the Year in 2005, 2006, and 2007.
Akin is a two-time Kentucky Junior Amateur Champion. She helped lead Central Hardin to two team state championships and two runner-ups during her brilliant career.
Gough was runner-up and English girls champion and a member of the Junior County team for five years. She was also on the Ladies County team in 2007. Gough was a member of the England Select Squad for three years.
