MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee quarterback Dwight Dasher has been named an Honorable Mention Freshman All-American by The Sporting News. Dasher, who was slowed by injuries the final four games of the year, played beyond his years in 2007 and was a threat with his arm and legs for most of the season.

The Folkston, Ga., native led the Blue Raiders in rushing with 530 yards while completing 89 of 159 passes for 1,148 yards and nine touchdowns. In one of his most impressive efforts of the year, Dasher led the Blue Raiders to an upset win at Memphis by accounting for 410 of Middle Tennessee's 490 total yards.

In the 21-7 win over the Tigers, Dasher rushed for a quarterback record 180 yards while throwing for 230 yards.

In seven games as a starter, Dasher completed 87 of 152 passes for 1,126 yards and nine touchdowns while adding 483 yards and three scores on the ground. As a team during those seven games, Middle Tennessee put up 2,466 total yards of offense and Dasher tallied 1,609 of those yards (65.2 %).

Dasher is the first freshman at Middle Tennessee to gain All-American recognition since offensive tackle Brandon Westbrook in 2000.
