Adams, Asberry Receive All-America Honors

Duo honored for outstanding performances in 2007

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Juniors Ashley Adams and Ashley Asberry received Honorable Mention All-America honors as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

Yarimar Rosa of Florida International and Western Kentucky's Megan Argabright join the duo as the only Sun Belt players to also receive All-America honors.

The pair led the Blue Raiders in a number of categories during the 2007 season and Adams received tournament MVP honors in all five of Middle Tennessee's tournaments including the Sun Belt Conference tournament.

The selections were made by the AVCA Division I All-America Committee: chair -Pi'i Aiu, Colorado; Andy Banachowski, UCLA; Laura Farina; Barry Goldberg, American; Debbie Kirch, Green Bay; Jolene Nagel, Duke; Mark Rosen, Michigan; and Pat Stangle, Wyoming. The AVCA Awards Chair is New Hampshire head volleyball coach Jill Hirschinger.

Middle Tennessee posted the best record in a season by any Blue Raider volleyball team with just three losses, 35-3. Middle Tennessee also had the most wins by any Sun Belt team during conference play with 16. The Blue Raiders won the East Division title and the tournament crown to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament. In the NCAA Tournament, the Blue Raiders advanced to the regionals which is as far as any Middle Tennessee team has gone.
