Baseball's Groundhog Luncheon Feb. 1
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The 35th Annual Groundhog Day Luncheon to benefit Blue Raider baseball is set for Friday, February, 1 at 11:30 a.m.
The event will have its traditional menu of ham hocks, white beans, tomato salad, green onions, corn bread, chocolate cake and ice cream.
The Groundhog Luncheon will be in the Murphy Center on the Monte Hale Arena floor on the Middle Tennessee campus. The luncheon is hosted by the Blue Raider baseball team and the BRAA as an opening pitch to the 2008 season.
Former Blue Raider standouts Brett Carroll, Matt Ray and Todd Martin are among those who will be in attendance at the luncheon.
A shuttle service from the livestock parking lot to the Murphy Center will be available beginning at 11 a.m.
All tickets for this year's event are $20. Reservations may be made for the Groundhog Day Luncheon by calling the Middle Tennessee ticket office at (615) 898-2103 or 1-888-YES-MTSU or the BRAA office at (615) 898-2210. The last day to purchase tickets to the event is Wednesday, January 30.
"Show Me" Camp: On Saturday, Feb. 2, the Middle Tennessee baseball program will hold its "Show Me" baseball camp from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The camp is for children ages six to 12 and will be held in the Murphy Center. There will be five thirty-minute sessions led by Middle Tennessee coaches, players and several former players who are now in the professional ranks.
Hitting, pitching, infield play, outfield play, and base running will be the topics for the five sessions. Camp groups will be divided by age and all campers need to bring their gloves.
The cost for the "Show Me" camp is $75 per camper (pre-registration) and $85 per camper the day of camp. The cost includes five instructional lessons, insurance and a T-shirt.
