Blue Raiders Set to Open Season
Mighigan State higlights opening weekend for MT
January 24, 2008 · MT Media RelationsThe Blue Raiders will open the weekend with Michigan State at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25. Then on Saturday, Jan. 26 Middle Tennessee will face UTC at 4 p.m. before wrapping-up the weekend with Indiana State at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27.
"I am excited to start the season. I'm hoping the work the guys have put in the last six months is going to pay off," head coach David McNamara said.
Michigan State opened the 2008 season on Jan. 12 with Butler and has a record of 4-0 coming into Friday's match.
"Michigan State is a good enough team to be ranked and I feel if we perform well then the result should take care of itself. I'm not thinking about UTC or Indiana State right now. I would like to get through tomorrow night before I start thinking about them," McNamara said.
UTC defeated Lipscomb 7-0 on Jan. 19 and Indiana State will play at Indiana on Friday before traveling to Murfreesboro.
"If everything goes according to plan I think this weekend will be a good start to the season," McNamara said.
Free pizza and drinks will be available to those in attendance at the Blue Raiders match with Michigan State on Friday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. Admission to all matches at the Racquet Club is free.
