Blue Raiders Shut Down Tennessee Tech
MT cruises to 7-0 victory on Friday
January 25, 2008 · MT Media RelationsMiddle Tennessee began the day by sweeping doubles play 3-0 to clinch the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Then junior Marlene Chemin continued the trend by winning the first singles match 6-1, 6-4 over Mireia Cano-Guirao.
Sophomore Stephanie Parkison defeated the Golden Eagles' (0-1) Kelly Holtzhausen 6-2 7-6 (7-2) while freshman Shannon Hartmann won her match with Diana Woodcock 6-4, 7-5.
Junior Andrea Herrera continued the sweep by the Blue Raiders as she defeated Katie Barnhill 6-4, 6-1. Junior Pooja Kommireddi rounded out play on Friday as she won her match with Evgenia Yartseva 6-2, 6-2.
The Blue Raiders improve to 1-2 on the season with the win. Middle Tennessee will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. when it will face Purdue. Admission to the Racquet Club is free.
