MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team is ranked 50th as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday.
The Blue Raiders are 4-2 on the season with wins over No. 66 Denver and No. 40 Minnesota.
"It is still early in the season and the rankings will work themselves out but it is nice to be recognized for big wins," head coach David McNamara said. "Hopefully we can keep this momentum going into our next six matches which will all be against hard teams."
One of Middle Tennessee's two losses was to Virginia Tech who was ranked 35th at the time and has dropped two spots to 37th.
The Blue Raiders are one of just three Sun Belt Conference teams ranked in the ITA. South Alabama is the highest of the three at No. 29 and Denver remained a No. 66 in this week's poll.
The ITA rankings are released each Tuesday and rank the top-75 teams in the country.
Middle Tennessee will return to the Racquet Club for matches with No. 55 New Mexico on Saturday, Feb. 9 and No. 48 East Tennessee on Sunday Feb. 10. Both matches are set for 2 p.m. Admission to the Racquet Club is free.
