Blue Raiders Fall to Kentucky
Wildcats top MT 6-1
February 9, 2008 · MT Media RelationsKentucky (4-1) took an early lead over Middle Tennessee (1-6) in the match as it won the doubles point. Freshman Shannon Hartmann and sophomore Stephanie Parkison fell 8-1 to Carolina Escamilla and Christine Johnston. The Wildcats' Sarah Woestmann and Megan Broderick then topped sophomore Elvira Yusupova and senior Ann-Kristin Siljestrom 8-2. A third doubles match was schedule but not played because the point had already been decided.
In singles action, Parkison fell to Alaina Trgovich 6-0, 6-1 while Hartmann lost her match with Johnston 6-1, 6-1.
In three singles, Broderick defeated Siljestrom 6-2, 6-2 and in the No. 4 position Chemin fell to Woestmann 6-4, 7-5.
Rounding out singles play for the Blue Raiders was junior Andrea Herrera who fell to Escamilla 6-0, 6-2.
Junior Pooja Kommirreddi was scheduled to play six singles but that match was not played.
The Blue Raiders will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 12 when it plays host to Belmont at 10 a.m. Then at 5 p.m. Middle Tennessee will play UT-Chattanooga. Admission to the Racquet Club is free. Live stats of the match will be available on www.goblueraiders.com.
