Blue Raiders Fall to ETSU

The Buccaneers (5-2) won the doubles point to begin the match with a 1-0 lead. Peers and freshman Chris Nowak fell to No. 33 Sebastian Serrano and Enrique Olivares 8-4. Then in No. 3 singles sophomores Marc Rocafort and Joao Paoliello lost a close match to Lisandro Picardo and Daniel Isaza 9-7.
"Certainly disappointing with these two matches but it is a long season and this is the level of teams we will be playing the rest of the season," head coach David McNamara said. We need to get better production out of a few players and we need to keep working hard on and off the tennis court. We need to focus on what our goal is for the end of the season."
East Tennessee extended its lead to two as Rocafort fell to No. 49 Enrique Olivares 6-3, 6-2. Then Predrag Burmazovic defeated Richard 6-4, 6-4 to extend the lead for the Buccaneers 3-0.
Peers notched a win for the Blue Raiders (4-4) as he defeated Serrano 7-6 (4), 6-2 closing the gap, 3-1.
East Tennessee then clinched the match as Cowden fell to Picardo 2-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3 after winning the first set to begin his match.
Paoleillo's match with Isaza was called since the second set had just begun and the match had been clinched by the Buccaneers. The final score gave Isaza the win as he won the first set 6-4 and the second set tied at 1.
Nowak fell to Posada 7-5, 6-2, in a super tie-breaker to end the match for Middle Tennessee.
Middle Tennessee will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. when it travels to Louisville, Ky. to face No. 59 Louisville. Then on Friday, Feb.15 the Blue Raiders will play No. 69 Indiana at 2 p.m. in Bloomington, Ind.
