MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee soccer players Holly Grogan and Kala Morgan have been named to the 2007 NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-South Region team.
Grogan earned a spot on the All-South Region team for the second year while Morgan is on the team for the first time in her stellar Blue Raider career. The talented duo completed their Middle Tennessee career as two of the top performers in program history.
"We stress the importance of balancing academics and athletics first and foremost in our program so it is always pleasing when our players are recognized for their successes in each area," Middle Tennessee coach Aston Rhoden said. "Holly and Kala have demonstrated an ability to excel in academics and on the field. They deserve this recognition by one of the strongest governing bodies of our sport."
Grogan sports a 3.46 GPA and is Nutrition and Food Science Major. The Bexhill, England native completed her Middle Tennessee career as the program's all-time leader in points (102), goals (38) and she is second all-time in assists with 26. Grogan is also first all-time at Middle Tennessee with 13 game-winning goals.
Morgan also completed her career as one of the elite performers in program history. Her 85 points are fourth all-time and her 34 goals are second on the career list. Morgan also tallied 17 assists in her three-year career which are fifth all-time.
"Holly and Kala certainly left their mark on Middle Tennessee soccer and they had many exemplary performances," Rhoden said. "They deserve to be honored by the NSCAA's All-America Committee and we are proud of their accomplishments, on and off the field."
