Lady Raiders Sweep UNT in Consolation Action

MOBILE, Ala. - No. 3 Middle Tennessee bounced back from a frustrating loss one day earlier, as the Lady Raiders swept No. 7 North Texas 5-0 in consolation action of the 2004 Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Championships at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The Lady Raiders (11-9) advance to Sunday's 9 a.m. fifth-place match against UNO. UNT (13-11) will face the New Mexico State in the seventh-place match at 3 p.m.
MT, which was upset by No. 6 UALR Friday afternoon, captured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2. Manon Kruse and Carien Venter, ranked 10th nationally, won their match 8-1.
In singles, Kruse got the Lady Raiders going with a quick 6-1, 6-1 win, and the Lady Raiders also got straight-sets win at No. 3, 4 and 6. Emily Vest provided the match-clincher at No. 6.
