Hillstrom Registers Double Double
September 1, 2001 · MT Media RelationsShakeithia Deckard, a freshman from Nacogdoches, Texas, recorded double figure kills for the third match in a row with 15, and also had 29 attacks. Freshmen Dara McClean and Kelly Cannon each recorded their first aces in their college career, with McClean registering two and Cannon one.
After Middle Tennessee won the first game, host Charlotte won the next three to defeat the Lady Raiders 31-29, 17-30, 18-30, 13-30 in the Lady Raider's early game.
Hillstrom had a double double with 10 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore Karisse Baker was the only other Lady Raider with double figure kills with 11.
"There are still some questions we need to answers some after our first tournament," said Head Coach Lisa Kissee. "We played very inconsistently this weekend and even though we played everyone on our roster, we haven't gotten to the level we need to be at before we begin conference."
Middle Tennessee ends the weekend with a record of 2-2 and will travel to Birmingham, Alabama to take on UAB Tuesday September 4 at 7 p.m.
