Kruse leads MT to fifth-place win

MOBILE, Ala. - No. 3 seed Middle Tennessee's Manon Kruse finished off a strong weekend, easily winning both her doubles and singles matches to lead the Lady Raiders to a 4-0 win over New Orleans in the fifth-place match of the 2004 Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Championships on Sunday at the Mobile Tennis Center.
Kruse, who is the league's highest-ranked singles player at No. 41, grabbed a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Earlier, Kruse and doubles partner Carien Venter, ranked 10th nationally, captured an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
After winning the doubles point, MT continued its solid play with Emily Vest's 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles. Venter closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3.
