NUEVO VALLARTA, Mexico - Middle Tennessee shot a 10-over 586 in the first two rounds of the GADO North Texas Classic at the Flamingos Golf Club in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico and is in seventh out of 14 teams heading into Monday's final round.
Chas Narramore and Rick Cochran led the Blue Raiders with a 2-over 146 through the first two rounds of the opening event of the spring season. Narramore and Cochran are tied for 17th overall.
Louisiana-Lafayette was the only team to play under par after two rounds, firing a 10-under 566 Sunday and running out to a 13 stroke lead over second-place Washington (579). Southeastern Louisiana (580) and CSU-Northridge (580) are tied for third. The Blue Raiders are just seven shots out of second despite an up-and-down showing Sunday.
Cochran had the best round of any Blue Raider Sunday with a 4-under 68 in the first round but he came back with a disappointing 78 in the second round to settle for the 146. It was a different story for Narramore who opened with a 75 but rallied with a 1-under 71 in the second round to salvage the 146.
Freshman Jason Millard is tied for 29th with a 4-over 148 (75-73) after two rounds and sophomore Craig Smith tied for 37th with a 5-over 149 (75-74). Kent Bulle was in 61st after the first two rounds.
The final round of the event, hosted by North Texas, will tee off Monday morning.
