HOUSTON - Murfreesboro native Jason Millard shot a 1-over 145 through the first two rounds of the All-American Golf Classic Monday and is in seventh place entering Tuesday's final round at the Tradition Course at Cypresswood in Sping, Texas.

The Blue Raiders are tied for fifth overall with a team-total 594 through the first two rounds but they are just seven shots off the lead established by UALR (587). Baylor (592) is second and Lamar (593) and Houston (593) are tied for third, followed by the Blue Raiders. The top eight teams are separated by just 10 shots entering final-round play.

"The course was definitely the winner today," Middle Tennessee first-year head coach Whit Turnbow said. "With no team shooting under par, nowhere close, it kind of tells you how tough it was. The conditions were very windy but we battled and if we take care of our business (Tuesday) I see no reason we can't make a run at it."

Middle Tennessee second-round 294 was the third lowest score of the round and enabled the Blue Raiders to narrow the gap and become a player in the bunched field.

Millard, who is eying his first career top 10 finish, opened with a 1-under 71 in the first round and came back with a 2-over 145 in Monday's finale. He is seven shots off the lead entering the final round and in seventh place. He was the only Blue Raider to turn in a sub-par round (71) Monday.

"I am proud of Jason Millard and the way he played," Turnbow said. "It was definitely the best 36 holes since he has been here. He played with poise and confidence and that was good to see from a freshman against a tough course with tough conditions."

Chas Narramore (148) is tied for 12th, Kent Bulle (148) is tied for 32nd, and Rick Cochrarn (153) and Craig Smith (153) are tied for 36th entering Tuesday's final round.
