MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's track and field teams begin the outdoor season this weekend at the Clemson Relays at Rock Norman Outdoor Track in Clemson, S.C.
The men's and women's 3000-meter steeplechase as well as the women's discus take place on Friday. Field events begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and the running starts at 11:25 a.m. ET. Six relays will be run on Saturday, with the 4x400 relay the final event of the day.
Aside from Carl and Carlos Morgan, Zamzam Sangau and Sarah Nambawa, the rest of the men's and women's teams have not competed since the Sun Belt Championships four weeks ago. Head coach Dean Hayes says this weekend is just about getting back into the routine of competition.
"We've had a long break, really the longest break we've ever had," Hayes said. "We'll get ourselves back to competing. There are very few individual events - the intermediate hurdles, the high hurdles and the 100-meters, but it's almost all relays.
"We're really just going to have a good time, get ourselves back in shape and back to competing again. That's really all that it's for. Next week we'll go to Georgia Tech, which is a good meet and that'll get us in the swing of things."
