Middle Tennessee Falls 13-6 to FAU
Blue Raiders will play final game in series at 12 a.m.

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Middle Tennessee fell to Florida Atlantic 13-6 when play resumed from Saturday's suspended game on Sunday morning.

The Blue Raiders performed well on Sunday but the damage FAU did on Saturday was too much for Middle Tennessee to overcome. As a team the Blue Raiders posted 13 hits but committed five errors and left nine runners on base.

Junior Nathan Hines ended the game 3 for 5 with one RBI. Junior Rawley Bishop added assistance at the plate as he was 3 for 5 with three RBI and scored one run.

When play resumed on Sunday morning Tom Hatcher hit a pop fly to Bishop to end the third inning. Before the Blue Raiders could get out of the inning FAU scored eight runs on five hits as Middle Tennessee committed three errors in the field.

Middle Tennessee had three straight hits to begin the top of the fourth inning and put its first run on the board as Bishop doubled to score Burnett from second base. The Blue Raiders left the bases loaded as it could score no more runs in the inning which kept the Owls ahead 11-1.

FAU would knock again in the bottom of the fourth as David Wilson received a base on balls to score a run as the bases were loaded. Sophomore Chad Edwards would allow no other runs as he got out of the inning with the bases loaded to keep the score at 12-1.

The Blue Raiders began the top of the fifth with a run as Box scored on a single to left field by Hines. Bishop added another run with his RBI double to right field which scored Barrett from second base.

Bishop singled again in the top of the ninth to add another run on the board for the Blue Raiders. Then junior Zach Dean hit a two-run home run to left field to cut the Owls lead to seven.

Middle Tennessee trailed Florida Atlantic 11-0 in the bottom of the third when play was suspended due to inclement weather in the Boca Raton area on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Kenneth Roberts took the loss on the mound as he pitched two and a third innings allowing nine runs, four earned runs on six hits.

FAU started the scoring putting three runs on the board in the bottom of the second as Middle Tennessee committed two errors in the inning. The Blue Raiders committed two errors in the inning as the Owls took a 3-0 lead on three hits.

Rainn Spanjer-Furstenburg hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the third to add to the FAU scoring as the Owls took a 6-0 lead. The Blue Raiders committed two more errors on which FAU capitalized scoring five more runs to increase their lead 11-0.

Middle Tennessee will begin the final game of the series with FAU at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 23.
