Blue Raiders Fall 4-0 Against San Diego

Nowak only player to force extra sets

HOUSTON, Texas - Middle Tennessee fell to San Diego 4-0 on Friday in its first match of the Rice Invitational.

The Blue Raiders lost the doubles point to begin the match as the Toreros took a 1-0 lead. Chris Coetzee and Thomas Liversage defeated freshmen John Peers and Richard Cowden 8-6. In No. 2 doubles junior Morgan Richard and sophomore Marc Rocafort lost their match 8-6 to Dean Jackson and Nils Schive.

In singles play, Peers lost his match to No. 45 Thomas Liversage 6-3, 6-4. Then in No. 2 singles, Jackson, who is ranked 66th nationally, defeated Richard 6-5, 7-5 which gave San Diego a 3-0 lead in the match.

Rounding out singles action was freshman Chris Nowak who fell to Nils Schive 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 and was the only Blue Raider to force an extra set.

Middle Tennessee will be back in action on Saturday, March 22 when it continues play in the Rice Invitational as it faces Rice.
