Hines Hits Two Home Runs in 11-5 Win

Blue Raiders top Lipscomb to break losing streak

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Junior Nathan Hines hit two home runs as Middle Tennessee snapped a two-game losing streak with its 11-5 win over Lipscomb.

Hines ended the night 3 for 4 with two home runs, two RBI and scored three runs. Sophomore Blake McDade and senior Zach Barrett added assistance with three hits of their own. McDade scored two runs while Barrett hit a home run, notched three RBI and scored two runs.

As a team the Blue Raiders posted 16 hits with three home runs, one double and stole two bases.

On the mound, junior Chad Coley took the win as he allowed one run on three hits in two innings of work.

Lipscomb put the first run on the board as Joseph hit a solo home run to centerfield with two outs to give the Bisons a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Freshman Bryce Brentz hit a three-run home run to centerfield in the bottom of the first to put the Blue Raiders on top. Barrett responded with a two-run home run of his own to give Middle Tennessee a 6-1 lead with no outs on the board. Middle Tennessee ended the inning with seven hits on its way to taking the lead.

Hines added to the home run total in the top of the second as he hit a solo shot to right field.

Lipscomb added one run in the top of the third to close the gap to five as the Blue Raiders continued to lead 7-2.

Middle Tennessee added another run in the bottom of the third on a double to left field by junior Taylor Dennis.

Barrett remained perfect on the night as he singled up the middle to score Brentz from third and extend the Blue Raider lead to seven in the bottom of the fourth.

The Blue Raiders took a 10-2 lead the bottom of the fifth on a solo shot to right field by Hines.

Bolden doubled with two outs in the top of the sixth to score a run from third to make it a seven run game.

Lipscomb scored two runs to the close the gap to five after an error by the shortstop Burnett.

The Blue Raiders took the lead back up 11-5 as McDade scored from third on a sacrifice fly by Brentz in the bottom of the eighth.

The Blue Raiders will be back in action on Wednesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. when they play host to Belmont.
