MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's Carlos Morgan finished 12th in the long jump in what was a very disappointing day for the Blue Raiders Friday at the NCAA Mideast Regional in Fayetteville, Ark. It was the highest finish by any Middle Tennessee athlete on the first of two days of competition at John McDonnell Field.
Senior Carlos Morgan posted a mark of 24-7.25, while junior Carl Morgan fouled three times during the competition.
Sarah Nambawa placed 21st in the long jump with a mark of 19-0.75.
No Middle Tennessee athlete advanced finals in six races on Friday.
Sophomore DeRay Sloss did not qualify for the 110-meter hurdle event finals, posting a time of 14.72 for 20th place, and also did not advance in the 400-meter hurdles after a time of 52.31 was 15th overall.
Senior Antranette Stringer placed 20th in the prelims in the 100-meters in 11.88, while the men's 4x100-meter relay of sophomore Phillip Tanner, Morgan, Morgan and junior Samuel Adade did not make the finals after posting a time of 40.80, good for 13th place.
Adade did not advance in the 100 after posting a time of 10.39 (16th place). He recorded a personal-best 20.97 in the 200-meter prelims but was 15th overall.
