Nambawa broke her own mark in the triple jump, posting a winning mark of 44-5.5, just one-quarter inch ahead of LSU's Andrea Linton. She will participate in the event in two weeks at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
Junior Carl Morgan had a better showing on Saturday after a poor performance the previous day. Morgan placed ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 50-8.75, but has a good chance to receiving a wild card into the national championships because of his previous mark of 51-8.25 earlier this season. Morgan must wait until Tuesday for his date.
Sophomore Brittany Cox finished 29th in the shot put with a mark of 45-8.5 and sophomore MeLyn Thompson was 35th in the event with a mark of 44-2. Cox placed 29th in the discus late Friday with a mark of 136-11.
The only runner of the day for the Blue Raiders was freshman Festus Chemaoi, who finished 22nd in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:40.18.
"Sarah did a really good job and I really think Carl has a good chance of making the nationals because of his earlier jumps this season," head coach Dean Hayes said.
