MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Freshman Bryce Brentz has been named to the 2008 All Ping! Freshman First Team as announced by the website on Tuesday.

Brentz has received a number of postseason honors including Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America and Pro-Line Athletic National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-America.

The Knoxville, Tenn., native was also named Sun Belt Freshman of the Year by the league office.

Tennessee's Kentrail Davis was the only other player from the state of Tennessee named Ping! First Team. Ping! Baseball's goal is to appeal to not just hardcore fans, but to casual and new fans as well, providing profiles and news in an informative, yet simple and entertaining manner.

The website originally started as a labor of love and small clandestine operation in a basement just a stone's throw from Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska, Ping! Baseball has grown to become a robust group whose dynamic membership celebrates the athletes, excitement and emotion of the game. 2007 was the website's "redshirt" season and it expects bigger and better things in seasons to come.
