Sophomore can become first female outdoor All-American since Andreja Ribac in 2000
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's Sarah Nambawa advanced to the finals of the triple jump at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, placing 11th in the preliminaries Friday night at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
Nambawa posted a mark of 43-1, good enough to make the finals but just barely. The Top 12 competitors made Saturday's finals set for 3 p.m.
"She knows she didn't do all that well [Friday], but she'll do better on Saturday," head coach Dean Hayes said.
Nambawa can become the first female outdoor All-American since Andreja Ribac in 2000 by finishing in the Top 8 on Saturday. Full results may be found at http://www.flashresults.com/2008_Meets/outdoor/DivisionI/.
