Volleyball Drops Two at SMS Tourney

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Middle Tennessee volleyball (0-2) fell to Fresno State 3-0 and host SMS 3-0 Friday at the T.J. Sayles Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational.

The Blue Raiders opened the season with a morning match-up with Fresno State. Middle Tennessee played Fresno State close falling 30-25, 30-20 and 30-28. Dara McLean led the team with 11 kills and setter Megan Sumrell had 40 assists.

Later in the day, Middle Tennessee faced off against host SMS, falling 30-23, 30-21, 30, 23. In the match against SMS, it was fellow senior KeKe Deckard who had the big game, registering 15 kills. Freshman Alicia Lemau'u recorded 14 digs and Sumrell had 38 digs.

Middle Tennessee will be back in action on Saturday when the Blue Raiders play Kentucky and Western Illinois.
