DENTON, Tex. - Middle Tennessee shot a final round 300 to finish fifth at the Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic. The Blue Raiders finished the 54-hole event with a score of 892.

Houston stormed back with a 286 in the final round to win the event with an 867. Host North Texas and Stephen F. Austin tied for second with an 877.

"Being the first tournament of the year I think our finish was pretty good, but we still could have done a lot better in the second round," Head Coach Johnny Moore said. "The second round is where we lost ground, but overall I liked what I saw out of our young guys. Now we just have to build on this."

Blake Bivens carded a 75 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 10th overall with a 220. Bivens opened the tournament with a 68 to grab the lead after the first round.

Nick Bailes, who had the teams' best round of the day on Tuesday with a 73, had a 222 to tie for 19th. Josh Nelms tied for 26th with a 224, while true freshman Brandon Burris tallied a 228 and tied for 41st.

Transfer Patrick McLennan completed the scoring with a 235 to place 60th.
