Blue Raiders Fall to IPFW 3-0

OXFORD, Ohio - Middle Tennessee volleyball (2-6) fell to IPFW (6-3) 3-0 (30-20, 38-36, 30-21) Friday at the Miami Classic.

Senior outside hitter KeKe Deckard continues to shine in her final season as a Blue Raider, as she recorded 20 kills and had a .326 attack percentage against IPFW. The 20 kills marks the fourth consecutive match, the Nacogdoches, Texas native has notched 20 or more kills.

In game one, IPFW had a scorching .424 attack percentage and Middle Tennessee suffered with a .175 attack percentage. Middle Tennessee pulled within one point early in the game at 8-9 before IPFW pulled away with five consecutive points and the Blue Raiders could never catch up.

Middle Tennessee fought back in game two, and with IPFW threatening game point at 28-29, Deckard tied the match off an assist by Megan Sumrell. An error by IPFW gave the Blue Raiders the advantage at 30-29, but Sumrell's service error tied the match again. The game went back and forth until the it was tied at 36, it was then IPFW pulled ahead winning the last two remaining points thanks to Fabina Souza.

The Blue Raiders dropped game three 30-21, although the team did have the best hitting percentage of the match with .250. Sophomore Andressa Lyra was the only other Blue Raider in double figure kills with 11. Libero Alicia Lemau'u had 21 digs.

Middle Tennessee will be back in action on Saturday when the Blue Raiders take on Georgia Tech at 9:30 a.m. and host Miami University of Ohio at 6:30 p.m.
