TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Middle Tennessee women's golf team shot a final round 310 on Tuesday to finish sixth at the Alabama/Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate. The Lady Raiders had a cumulative score of 630 on the par 72 Ol' Colony Golf Course.
Tulane won the event with a 596, while Mississippi State claimed second with a 605 and host Alabama came in third at 615.
"We played better today, but were still too inconsistent," Head Coach Rachael Short said. "I was really pleased with the way our two freshman competed in their first tournament, but we have to be more consistent if we expect to challenge."
Freshman Taryn Durham, playing in her first tournament as a collegian, tied for 10th overall with a 152. The Glasgow, Kent., native carded a 73 in the final round to tie for the fourth best score of the day.
Senior Kristin Lynch (Tullahoma, Tenn.), who was tied for sixth after the opening day, slipped into a tie for 14th after registering a 79 on Tuesday. Lynch finished with a 154.
Freshman Jamey Dillard from Madison, Tenn., had a 159 to tie for 26th, while sophomore Maggie McGill (Bowling Green, Kent.) tied for 54th with a 165.
Senior Kemmerlee Pennington (Crossville, Tenn.) rounded out the scoring for Middle Tennessee with a 172 to tie for 69th.
The Lady Raiders will head to Myrtle Beach, S.C. this weekend to participate in the Unlimited Potential-Bay Tree Classic.
