Nelms in 4th; Blue Raiders in 13th at Mason Rudolph

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - After 36 holes of the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate, the Middle Tennessee men's golf team is in 13th place in the 15-team field. The Blue Raiders carded a 581 (295-286) on day one at the Vanderbilt Legends Golf Club.

Georgia State owns the lead with a 548, while Mississippi is second with a 560 and host Vanderbilt is in third at 563.

"We really struggled in the opening round but came back strong in the second 18," Head Coach Johnny Moore said. "Hopefully we can have a solid day on Tuesday and finish in the top half of what is a very tough tournament."

Josh Nelms was outstanding for the Blue Raiders on Monday as he is tied for fourth place overall with a 138. In the second round, Nelms fired a personal-best 67.

Nick Bailes is tied for 28th with a 143, including an opening round one-under par 70. Blake Bivens registered a 149 to tie for 49th, while Kenny Green tied for 67th with a 152. Green is playing in his first tournament of the fall.

Newcomer Patrick McLennan completed the scoring with a 156 to tie for 73rd.

The Blue Raiders will play the final round on Tuesday morning.
