MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's Andreas Siljestrom lost a three-set singles match and Siljestrom and Marco Born dropped their doubles tilt Tuesday in qualifying action at the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships, eliminating the Blue Raiders from the first collegiate grand slam of the season.
Siljestrom got out to a quick start at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn., taking the first set, 6-4, over Boise State's Luke Shields. But the 63rd-ranked player in the country could not keep the momentum, dropping the final two sets, 1-6, 5-7.
Later in the day, Siljestrom and Born lost 8-5 to Pepperdine's Scott Doerner and Pedro Rice.
The Blue Raiders next play at the ITA Region III Indoor Qualifying in Memphis, Tenn., on October 14-17. Full results from the All-American may be accessed at itatennis.com.
